The following is a list of closures and cancellations received Wednesday, Feb. 17. This information is updated as it is received.

 

Schools 

-  Saint Mary’s University will re-open for the day at noon today.

- Mount Saint Vincent University will re-open for the day at noon today. 

- Dalhousie University and King’s College are closed for the day.

- Chignecto Central Regional School Board has closed all schools for the day.

- Halifax Regional School Board has closed all schools for the day. Offices will delay opening until 10 a.m.

- Annapolis Valley Regional School Board has closed all schools (Annapolis, Kings and West Hants) for the day. 

- Halifax Christian Academy and its early childhood centre in Timberlea are both closed for the day.

- The Tri-County Regional School Board has closed all schools (Yarmouth, Digby and Shelburne counties) for the day.

– South Shore Regional School Board schools are closed for the day, as well as the regional office in Bridgewater.

- Our Lady of Schools and Sacred Heart and Fountain Academy are closed for the day.

- All schools in the Strait Regional School Board are closed for the day. Support staff are asked to report at 10 a.m.

- Halifax Grammar School is closed for the day.

- NSCC campuses are closed for the day.

- The CSAP schools in Clare and Argyle are closed for the day.

- the East Coast School of Languages is closed for the day.

- Armbrae Academy is closed for the day.

- The Sackville-Bedford Developmental Centre is closed for the day.

- The International Language Institute in Halifax is closed for the day.

- Bridgeway Academy in Dartmouth and Truro is closed for the day.

- The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts is closed for the day.

- Halifax Independent School is closed for the day.

 - Sandy Lake Academy in Bedford is closed today. – Maple Tree Montessori in Halifax is closed for the day.

- The Atlantic School of Theology is closed until noon.

 

- Colchester Christian Academy in Truro is closed for the day.

– The Shambala School is closed for the day.

- Annapolis Valley Regional School Board is now closing the regional office and all work sites.

- The three French schools in metro – Ecole Boisjolie, Beaubassin and Carrefour – are closed for the day.

- Bedford Academy is closed for the day. – The Maritime Business College in Dartmouth and Halifax is closed for the day.

- Kingsview Academy is closed for the day.

- Acadia University will have a delayed start due to weather conditions. Campus is expected to open at 12:30 p.m. today.

- The Maritime Muslim Academy in Halifax and day care are both closed today.

- NSCAD is closed until noon

- Parent-teacher meetings scheduled for tonight at Astral Drive Junior High have been cancelled.

- The Department of Education DELF examiner training session planned for today at Brunswick Place in Halifax has been cancelled.

- Halifax Regional School Board offices will now open at noon today.

 

Sports

- AUS playoff hockey SMU vs Moncton at the Forum is cancelled.

- Halifax Mooseheads vs Saint John Sea Dogs at the Metro Centre is going ahead

 

Government

- CFB Halifax, HMCS Dockyard, all HMCS vessels CFAD Bedford and 12 Wing Shearwater are closed for the day.

- Halifax District office and regional office of Veterans Affairs is closed until noon. A decision about reopening will be made at 10:30 a.m. 

- Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services (ISIS) is closed for the day. 

- The Halifax Regional Military Family Resource Centre and daycares in Halifax and Shearwater are closed until noon.

- Service Canada Centres in Yarmouth and Digby will be closed until noon. A decision on reopening for the afternoon will be made at 11 a.m.

- Spring Garden Small Claims Court is closed today.

 

Services/Retail

 - HRM’s Solid Waste Management Facilities are closing at noon today.  The following facilities will not be open for commercial solid waste materials:  Otter Lake Waste Management Facility at 600 Otter Lake Dr., Materials Recovery Facility at 20 Horseshoe Lake Dr., New Era Composting Facility at 61 Evergreen Place and Miller Composting Facility at 80 Gloria McCluskey Drive. These facilities will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday to accomodate any disruption caused by the closures.

- All Halifax Public Library branches will open at 2 p.m. with the exception of the Dartmouth North Branch. 

- Dartmouth North Community centre closed for the day.  

- The Halifax Regional Military Family Resource Centre and daycares in Halifax and Shearwater are closed until noon.

 

- The Open Door Clothing Bank at Dartmouth First Church of the Nazarene will be open until 11:30 a.m. The food bank at Stairs United Memorial Church is also open as usual.

 - HRM has cancelled curbside pickup for today. Garbage, organics and recyclables will be collected on Saturday, Feb. 20 instead.

- All TD Canada Trust branches will open at 10 a.m.

- The Canadian Diabetes Association store on Chain Lake Drive in Halifax is closed today.

- YWCA child care centre on Barrington Street will be closed for the whole day. All YWCA programs have been cancelled.

- Offices of Citizenship and Immigration will be closed. A decision on reopening will be made at 10 a.m.

 

Meetings

 - Bridgeway Academy in Dartmouth: Tax information session for people with disabilities at 6:30pm — cancelled.

 

- HRM has cancelled the Regional Plan advisory committee meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. today at the Alderney Gate Public Library.

 

- The Back to Balance public meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. in Sheet Harbour has been cancelled. The meeting scheduled for Lower Sackville at the Royal Canadian Legion tonight at 7 p.m. will go ahead as planned.

- The public accounts committee meeting at the legislature today has been cancelled.

- Parent-teacher meetings scheduled for tonight at Astral Drive Junior High have been cancelled.

- The Halifax Women’s Connection at the Rockingham United Church has been cancelled.

 

Daycares 

-  St. Joseph’s Children Centres in Halifax and Bedford will re-open at noon today. 

- The children’s centre at Dalhousie University is closed for the day.

 - Halifax Early Childhood School on Inglis Street is closed for the day.

- Edward Jost Children’s Centre in Spryfield is closed for the day. 

- Tiny Treasures Nursery School is closed today.  

- The South End Community Daycare on Morris Street is closed for the day. 

- The Halifax Regional Military Family Resource Centre and daycares in Halifax and Shearwater are closed until noon.

– Cowie Hill Child Care Centre is closed until noon.

– YWCA child care centre on Barrington Street will be closed for the whole day. All YWCA programs have been cancelled.

– The North End Community Day Care Centre will be closed today.

 

Other

- The CNIB office in Halifax will be closed for the day.

- The Institute for Marine Biosciences and the marine research station in Ketch Harbour are both closed until noon.

 

- Independent Living Nova Scotia is closed for the day

- The museum at Pier 21 will be closed until at least noon.

- Red Cross offices on mainland Nova Scotia are closed until at least noon today. This includes offices in Amherst, Antigonish, Bridgewater, Dartmouth, Kentville, Truro and Yarmouth.

- The Department of Education DELF examiner training session planned for today at Brunswick Place in Halifax has been cancelled.

- The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax is closed until noon.

- The Adventurers Childcare centres in Sackville, Waverly and Burnside are closed for the day.

- The Community Justice Society is closed for the day.

- The Kentville Agricultural Centre will be closed this morning. A decision on reopening for the afternoon will be made at 10 a.m.
